This policy applies to Storybook Timeless Designs Pty Ltd (ABN 20 667 179 900), trading as Storybook Designer Homes, and Storybook Construction Supplies Pty Ltd (ABN 24 637 304 655), together referred to as “Storybook”, “we”, “us” or “our”. Both companies are based in Frankston South, Victoria and serve clients throughout Australia.

Storybook Timeless Designs provides custom-home design and documentation services. Storybook Construction Supplies supplies material kits. Neither company is a registered builder. Construction is undertaken by the client as an owner-builder or by a registered builder chosen by the client.

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect your name, postal address, email address, telephone number, preferred contact method and other contact details.

For enquiries and projects, we may collect information about your land, proposed building site, household or accommodation requirements, budget range, design preferences, plans, photographs, council or permit information, communications with us, consultation notes, quotations and project records.

When you use our website, technical information may be collected automatically, including your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring website, approximate location, cookie identifiers and interaction data. We do not intentionally collect sensitive information unless it is reasonably necessary and you have provided it knowingly.

We usually collect information directly from you when you telephone or email us, submit an enquiry or consultation form, attend a meeting, request a quotation, provide project documents, correspond with us or engage our services.

We may also receive information from a person acting for you, your designer, consultant, engineer, surveyor, council, permit authority, owner-builder or registered builder, where relevant to your enquiry or project. Website information may be collected through our hosting, security, analytics, form and embedded-media technologies.

We use personal information to respond to enquiries; arrange and conduct consultations; assess land and design requirements; develop designs and documentation; prepare quotations; supply material kits; provide project support; administer our relationship with you; keep business and legal records; improve our website and services; protect our systems; and comply with legal obligations.

We may send service communications about your enquiry or project. We will only send promotional email or SMS where we have consent or are otherwise permitted by law. Every commercial electronic message will identify the sender and provide a practical way to unsubscribe.

We may disclose relevant information to our employees and contractors; professional advisers; designers, engineers, surveyors and consultants; councils and permit authorities; suppliers; your nominated owner-builder or registered builder; and other parties you authorise.

We may also use trusted providers for website hosting, security, backups, forms, email, file storage, analytics, customer communications and embedded media. These providers receive only the information reasonably required to perform their services and may have their own privacy policies.

We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information where required or authorised by law, to protect our rights or safety, or in connection with a proposed sale or restructure of a business, subject to appropriate safeguards.

Some technology providers, including Google and YouTube, may process or store information outside Australia. Overseas locations may include the United States and other countries in which those providers or their subcontractors operate. Where Australian privacy law applies, we take reasonable steps appropriate to the circumstances before disclosing personal information overseas.

Our website may use essential cookies and similar technologies for security, functionality and performance. We may use aggregated analytics to understand which pages are visited and how the site is used.

Pages containing YouTube videos or links to social platforms may communicate with those services when content is loaded or played. Those services may use cookies or collect device and interaction information under their own privacy policies. We may hold information electronically and in paper records. We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. We keep project and business records for as long as reasonably required for the purposes described in this policy and to meet legal, accounting, insurance and contractual obligations. When information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it, subject to lawful retention requirements.

You may request access to personal information we hold about you or ask us to correct information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading. We may need to verify your identity before responding. In limited circumstances permitted by law, access may be refused; if that occurs, we will explain the reason where required.

If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us in writing with enough detail for us to investigate. We will acknowledge the complaint, investigate it fairly and aim to respond within 30 days.

We maintain processes for assessing and responding to suspected data breaches. Where the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme applies and a breach is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required.

Our website links to third-party websites and social platforms. We are not responsible for their privacy practices and recommend reviewing their policies before providing information.
